Recently Sidi has made a change to its venerable SR sole system. This new sole system is called “SMS” and can accommodate both off road and Supermoto specific soles. This is a running change in Sidi production; all SR based boots will now be built with the SMS sole system. Please note that the prior off road based replacement soles will work on the new base but the new off road soles will not work on the old base unless the outside edge is ground even with edge of the sole. You will note two colors are offered for the Supermoto boots, red and yellow. These are not fashion statements but soles of two different compounds that react differently depending on the tracks composition and temperature. Sidi no longer designates Supermoto soles as “hard” or “soft”. Sidi has found from testing with its World Championship Supermoto riders that the science of picking the correct boot sole for a race event is as important as picking the correct tire. The wrong sole for the day could slide too much or grip too much. Sidi recommends that its Supermoto riders purchase both soles and test each sole at each event, just as the rider should do with his tires and gearing, ultimately selecting the best sole for the day’s conditions.Note: RED sole is an 'asphault' sole, while the yellow is a concrete sole.
